Biography of Rev. Charles W. Gibson
Charles W. Gibson was born on February 16, 1930 in Jersey City, New Jersey of Christian parents. They moved back to Virginia when he was three months old. His Grandfather, Dr. W. E. Gibson was pastor of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond for thirty-five years. Charles was called into the ministry early in life and studied his books from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School from his teen years and continues to study. He was educated in the public schools of Richmond and attended the University of Richmond.
Rev. Gibson has been Pastor to churches throughout the state of Virginia since 1951 and is currently associated with the Intentional Interim Ministry Network of Virginia.
During is career, Rev. Gibson served on three occasions among the San Blas Indians of Panama, preached in the Canadian Crusade, led revivals in Germany, South Dakota, Maryland and Kentucky. He led revivals in Guatemala six times and led medical missions twice in the remote areas of Guatemala. He served in Partnership Evangelism in India.
Rev. Gibson has held positions of leadership in the demonimation and been involved in the communities in which he lived. He served in the Woodstock Civic Association, the PTA in Chesterfield County, the Education Committee, Amelia Interfaith Council, and on the Board of Directors in the Prince Wiliam Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Program. He served as Police Chaplain to the Suffolk Police Department, the Prince William County Police Deparment and New Kent County Sheriff’s Department.
Rev. Gibson married Reva Jean Taylor of Sabot on June 16, 1951 and they have three sons, Charles, Stephen and Dwayne.
